Санаторий «Радон»

Sanatorium «Radon» is a year-round balneology resort set in a pine forest on the bank of the Paniva (Ponikva) River in the Dyatlovo district of Grodno region, Belarus, about 190 km from Minsk and 11 km from the town of Dyatlovo. Belarus has no hot springs, and the sanatorium is instead built around its natural radon mineral water.

Radon mineral water and its properties

The resort takes its name from the local radon-bearing water used in balneotherapy. Radon baths are described as having a powerful anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effect, improving blood circulation and easing muscle tension. They are used chiefly to treat disorders of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems and chronic conditions.

Radon-water bathing and the pool are available to sanatorium guests as part of stays and treatment programmes.

Setting, hotel and dining

The sanatorium stands in a sosnovy bor (pine forest) beside the river, with ponds where guests can swim and use catamarans in summer. Accommodation ranges from single rooms to family rooms across several buildings, and a 500-seat dining hall serves a four-meal-a-day dietary menu included in the stay. A separate children's department, «Borovichok», lies about 1.5 km away where the Molchad and Paniva rivers meet.
