Lječilište «Reumal» Fojnica

Lječilište «Reumal» Fojnica is a modern specialized institution for rehabilitation, recreation, active rest and programmed recovery, set on the north-eastern slopes of the hills above Fojnica in central Bosnia and Herzegovina. It occupies roughly 60,000 m² of grounds (about 21,000 m² enclosed) within a mountainous, forested setting of greenery and running water. Its therapeutic reputation, confirmed by scientific analysis since 1888, rests on the region's natural radioactive thermal-mineral water.

Thermal-mineral water & source

The water rises at a source temperature of about 29.8°C (analysis by E. Ludwig, 1888) and is used at around 30°C. It is classified as a weakly mineralized water of the hydrocarbonate-sulfate-calcium-sodium type, nitrogen by gasosity, radon by radioactivity and hypothermal by temperature.

• Total mineralization: 615.4 mg/L
• Key minerals include calcium (68.69 mg/L), magnesium (12.58 mg/L), sodium (22.6 mg/L) and bicarbonates (475.8 mg/L)
• Rare balneologically significant trace elements: lithium, strontium and rubidium
• Radioactivity: radon (Rn) 200 pCi/L, radium and uranium in trace amounts

Pools, baths & wellness

The spa and wellness zone extends over about 750 m², including roughly 240 m² of pool water surface. The pool is equipped with hydro-massage loungers, vertical massage jets and a waterfall.

Medical rehabilitation

For over a century Reumal has delivered rehabilitation through the combination of its radioactive thermal water and modern medical equipment, staffed by around 250 professionals including physiatrists, internists, neuropsychiatrists and some 50 physiotherapists. Specialized programs cover:

Accommodation & dining

The resort offers a total capacity of about 540 beds (410 in the Reumal complex and 130 in the New Hospital building). Dining options include an à la carte restaurant, a pension-style cafeteria and a pizzeria with a summer garden.
